Meet the Midwives
In addition to licensure, both Kate and Brandi are Certified Professional Midwives (CPM's) a nationally recognized certification uniting midwives throughout the country, as well as active members of the California Association of Midwives (CAM) and the Midwives Alliance of North America (MANA).

It is my passion and life's purpose to serve and empower women and their families, especially in the childbearing year.
I have always been interested in pregnancy and birth, but first received my calling to midwifery in 2002 after completing my massage certification through the Atlanta School of Massage. Amazed by this noble and vital profession, I began immediately on the long, difficult, and tremendously rewarding path to becoming a midwife. Throughout my midwifery training at the Seattle Midwifery School, I maintained my massage practice with a specialty in prenatal massage.
Another big part of my life and perhaps the most fun thing I do is teaching prenatal yoga. I completed the Whole Birth Yoga teacher training in the summer of 2006 with Robin Sale and a second training with Jane Austin in March 2008. I also enjoy my own personal yoga practice to maintain balance in my busy life.
To add to the fun (and craziness of my life) I also love to travel! One of my most inspirational experiences was in the fall of 2007 when I visited the lovely country of Vanuatu in the South Pacific to be a volunteer midwife in their small, and much in need hospital. It turned out to be a highlight of my life thus far and inspired me to pursue aiding in international midwifery in anyway I can. I plan to continue to travel as my life permits, but also continue to do all that I can to serve women and families all over the world from my home in Sonoma, California.

My path to Midwifery started in Taos,at the Northern New Mexico Women's center. I attended my first birth there in 1998. My eyes were opened to the amazing power the birthing mother has. From that birth on I knew I would serve pregnant mom’s and their family’s through this most important and sacred time of their lives.
I spent the next 6 years supporting families through labor and birth as a doula. Learning the mystery’s of the women's body and eventual beginning my formal training to become a Licensed Midwife in California.
After the birth of my second daughter, in 2003 I enrolled at The National Midwifery Institute , and started my apprenticeship with Fawn Gilbride. I worked with Fawn for 4 years, attending Homebirths in Napa and the surrounding areas, while fulfilling my academic requirements through NMI.
Being a Midwife has taught me so many lessons. It has taught me how incredibly strong women are and how truly amazing our bodies are. It has taught me patience beyond words. Midwifery has strengthened my two daughters and has shown them to trust in their bodies already.
I believe in choice, and that we as women should be given the right to choose where and with whom we will give birth. I always feel blessed and honored to be able to witness a new life emerge into this world, and support a new family through this sacred transition.
